Neighbors Reducing Wildfire Risk
A message from Calli-Jane Burch Executive Director

Along the backroads of Butte County, you’ll find fire safe council volunteers, members and workers.

In the spring, tall green grass and thick brush line the roadways. It’s a wonderful hedge for wildlife; birds, butterflies, deer and the occasional snake found
slithering across the road. Yet the natural beauty of Butte County so quickly turns to devastation in summer months when wildfire reaches the dry grass and brush.

As executive director for the past six years, I have encountered may backroads and many wildfires on my journey. As a non-profit organization, the Butte County Fire Safe Council provides wonderful wildfire community resources.

The most amazing part of the adventure is meeting people who care and are actively helping to make healthy forests, educating children about wildfire, and assisting fFirefightingamilies in being prepared for the day that embers and flames approach their home.
