I heard an incident on the scanner, but Netbot says there are no incidents. What gives? |

There could be several reasons for this:
- There really are no incidents at the moment
You might be hearing an incident that is far away from us but we are still picking it up due to atmospheric conditions or some other anomally
- We are waiting for information from the scene
When there is a call-out to an incident, we do not update Netbot (or send out Incident Alerts) until we hear from the first engine at the scene. If the conditions of the scene warrant updating Netbot with the information or sending out an Incident Alert, we will do so. Reports of fires (especially fires in wildland areas) usually cause very large call-outs initially but rarely are all the called resources necessary to control the fire. We do not update Netbot or send out Incident Alerts during such incidents.
- Chatroom moderators are not available
Our chatroom moderators are here a lot. But there are times when none of us are available. This could really happen at any time (we are real people with real lives) but it usually happens during the late night hours (12:00am till 6:00am). If we are not available and you hear an incident but do not see us responding to it, feel free to help us out! If you see others coming into the chatroom and you are listening to the scanner, feel free to share information among each other. If it is a really big incident and it happens during the late night hours, one of us usually wakes up to handle it.
